Nine Mark Alexander Works Included in Thea Westreich Wagner & Ethan Wagner Collection Donated to the Centre Pompidou Foundation and Whitney Museum

Celebrating the extraordinary “gift promis” (pledge) Thea Westreich Wagner and Ethan Wagner, with nearly three hundred and fifty works at the Centre Pompidou Foundation and five hundred to Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou first part of this collection. The museum pays tribute to the generosity and philanthropy of its donors by exploring ideas and themes of this exceptional, rich in works of artists of all generations and nationalities. The exhibition also enriches the new crossing contemporary collections entitled “Cher(e) ami(e).” Offering a reading of contemporary art, this unique coupling is devoted to recent works entered the collection of the Centre Pompidou through the generosity of patrons, artists and donors. The collection of Thea and Ethan takes place with major funds donated by famous collectors such as Leiris husband, Daniel Cordier or Florence and Daniel Guerlain. This donation marks the lasting transdisciplinary Adventure Centre Pompidou, but also the representation of the 1990s to 2010 in the landscape of contemporary art in Europe. “With this donation, our greatest desire is that artists are treated well. We wanted their works, these works we have, found a place in museums that meet their practices and meet the artists in general. We believe this is the case with the Whitney Museum and the Pompidou Centre. So take good care of it”
